Plant Exchange for September's Meeting
It’s a GREAT time to plant things and get them watered in and established during the fall. So, please everyone, bring a plant and we’ll be doing a random plant exchange. New members, or people coming to find out who we are, we will have spare plants, so feel free to turn up without a plant and see what you end up with by the time you go home.
To all of our regular/current members, please bring -
A plant that you are willing to give away - it could be something that you have dug up from your garden, or you could have swung by a garden center and bought it on your way to garden club. We suggest an absolute Max value of $15 and FREE is always our favorite price.
A notecard or slip of paper with some info about your plant on it, such as
Name
Indoor/outdoor
Sun/shade
Soil type
We won’t be doing this in our traditional swap or steal method, although there will be an element of random surprise about exactly which plant you get to take home. Prepare to be flexible and yes, I’m sure that some of you will be doing some shady deals at the end of the evening.
Additionally
We always have extra plants at the end of the evening - we’re going to encourage you all to bring any plants that you are happy to give away, and there will be a “pick me!” time after the exchange when people can look at the surplus and scoop up the extras. We’re hoping that those of you with time and knowledge will be able to stay and tell us what you’re giving away at the end of the evening.
Join us for a Garden Club Meeting
Dexter Garden Club meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month September - June at
St. Andrew's Church Fellowship Hall
(Park on 4th St or at the Historical Museum.
Enter through the white door on 4th St.)
Social Time 6:30 - 7:00 pm
Program begins at 7:00
Annual dues are $25
Dues are payable at the first meeting you attend (unless new). No discount for joining mid-year. Members are given a discount at many local garden suppliers (such as Fraleighs and Dexter Mill) and a heavily discounted cost for workshops and trips run by the Dexter Garden Club.
Payment must be by check or cash, and it helps immensely if it's in an envelope with your name on the outside. Sorry, but we don't have the ability to process credit cards or online payments.
We welcome new members to "try before you buy", and encourage anyone interested to join us for a free evening. If you would like to come to meetings and activities regularly, the membership fee is $25 and should be paid before/at your next meeting.
